What is an Appropriate Age to Play Halo 1?

What's an appropriate age to play the first Halo game?
If Halo is appropriate for children around age 12, then why is it rated M? Did they do this to make it "cooler" so it would attract older teens?

The first halo game is honestly not a terrible game, every now and then, you will hear a swear word and there will be some blood every now and then. This is the thing, you are killing aliens, so blood is green... this is much better than the other games out there that are you killing humans. I would say around maybe 14 years old, but that matters how strict you are with game ratings and things, i believe that M for Mature rated games is 16 or 17 years and up.

i think that though many people don't think so, Halo is kind of violent. I would say maybe you could start playing when you're 14 or something.

its really hard to say. I would rather that every single person who plays violent video games would rather talk with councellors first and discuss about violence in games. some kids gets too obsessed with shooting in video games.

Its rated M so age 17 would be appropriate but some people play them at a younger age(I did).

Halo 1 I would have to say around 9 (due to bad graphics so they isn't anything like gore). Halo 2 I would say 12 (cursing in campaign and blood in multiplayer). And Halo 3 13-14 (due to content similar to Halo but better graphics)
