What is the difference between HALO 3 and HALO 3 ODST?

HI everyone! Im not a gamer but my Husband is, and for this Christmas I wanted to buy him a Game for Xbox 360, He was obsessed with halo 1 and 2 and he loves shooting games and all that. He's in the Army so i guess he digs violence lol anyway the point is I dont know squat about games, so please help me out you gamers out there! I would constantly hear him talk to his friends about how excited he was that Halo 3 was coming out, he has not bought any recent games lately cause weve been so busy moving into our new house and buying furniture and etc.. so as a surprise Im gonna buy him Halo 3 but then on best buy.com I read something about a slightly more expensive game called Halo 3 ODST?... which one should i get? and whats the difference?, is it the same game?.. HELP ASAP! thanks =) I appreciate it

and HALO 3 ODST is $59.99

Odst, because it comes with Halo 3 on the 2nd disc with on the maps so you do not need to pay more money. You also gt the great game Odst with it. It also comes with a demo for the new Halo game Halo reach, but that does not come out into 2010. so get Odst.

Halo 3 ODST is one of the better games. With ODST you get the ODST campaign and firefight and the Halo 3 mythic disc which allows online play. ODST is a more down to earth game where you play as a human not a cybernetically enhanced super soilder. If you buy the actual Halo 3 then he gets the main campaign and Online play without the new maps of Heretic, Longshore and Citadel.
If i were you i would get both. Halo 3 for the actual Halo 3 campaign and ODST for campaign, firefight, and the Halo 3 Mythic Disc.

Halo 3 ODST is an expansion for halo 3 it is another campgain but it has the same multiplayer.
And since your husband is in the army I'm sure he will love call of duty 6: modern warefare 2 thats the one of the best war games of 2009 will be released tomorrow

Get him BOTH. It has the same disk(ODST does) to play online but Halo 3 has campaign. If you can only pick one, buy ODST, but if you really loved him, buy both. If you get just ODST, he'll miss Halo 3 story. If you JUST get Halo 3, he'll miss Halo ODST's story AND he won't be able to access new exclusive mythic map pack not on marketplace right now.

I think i would be better to get ODST. It is just the same as Halo 3 but it has better multiplayer and better graphics.

Halo ODST is an expansion pack for Halo 3.

ODST comes with all the multiplayer levels in halo 3 plus a new single player camplain and a new multiplayer gametyple call firefight.

Halo 3 will have its own seperate campaign from ODST, and will not have firefight. Also, ODST comes with all the Halo 3 downloadable multiplayer maps that WILL NOT be in Halo 3 unless you purchase them online (hope that made sense).

I would say go with ODST, i found the single player experience better than Halo 3's, and you also get the full halo 3 multiplayer experience, plus an additional game mode.
