Why does everyone think the Halo movie is cancelled?

Yes, they tried once and failed. Yes, they tried again with Neil Blomkamp and failed. Well, I have some news for you.
August, 2009- Bungie releases an official statement that Steven Spielberg is interested in directing a Halo movie. They also said that the movie would be put on HOLD so they could focus on Reach and ODST for the moment. Thus the movie is happening. So, why do so many think it wont? Don't you want a Halo movie?

Steven Spielberg is interested doesn't mean Steven Spielberg is signed. Hollywood has a history of not producing films that have had the kind of troubles Halo has had.
