Xbox 360 and Halo 3 help please?

An Xbox 360 premium comes with a silver membership to xbox live, and when i play halo 3 online do i have to pay anything for playing online , or i just need a network??!?!?
and please explain to me a bit about the online stuff in xbox that i need 2 now

You need a Gold Membership to xbox live if you want to play online. With just a silver you can add friends, download stuff but not play online. When you sign up for live you are given 1 month of Gold Membership for free. So dont buy a gold card till your 1 month is up (probably will get cheaper)
