Xbox 360 Regions and Halo 3 Regions?

How many regions are there in total for the Xbox 360 Console? Is this the same as DVD regions?

I plan to buy Xbox 360 in China so I assume this will be Chinese region. I also plan to buy Halo 3 Asia region. Will this work fine? or will there be problems?
