Can I install HALO 3 on my XBOX 360 ?

I have halo 3 and its all scratched up, doesnt work anymore. When I try to install it on my 360 using the new play from hard drive feature, it does not work.

I was thinking to borrow my friends perfectly fine halo 3 and use it to install HALO 3 on my 360. Then I will give back my friends halo 3. Then i will put my scatched halo 3 in, and select play from hard drive.

Will this work ?
