Can my internet run halo 3 on xbox 360? (Xbox Live)?

I was wondering if my internet can run halo 3 on xbox live through ethernet. I have a D-Link ADSL Modem DSL-200. Its a 256k and it downloads at 25kbps (sucky). My friends keep saying ethernet will give less lag then a wireless router so i chose ethernet and i do not plan on getting a new internet plan anytime soon. When i tried with a wireless router me and my friends lagged bad because it was 4 people off my internet..I lag like that in brawl on the wii with my friends but if it is just 1 person playing on the same console then it will work fine.

Anyways please if anyone can answer this for me that would be great.

If it works on your wireless network, it will work through an ethernet port on your router. But I believe that that is a USB modem. I suggest that you buy the router that is listed below. That is what I have and it works great.
