Halo 3 Dropping out vs Keep Playing?

As I am playing Halo 3, (middle of a game or close to the end) my team or the other team is losing badly is it better to drop out lose the 1 exp or keep playing take the lose?

I see lots of player dropping out Isn't this just as bad as losing a game? or is the lose worse?
