Halo 3, Friends, and Linksys WRT54G Router?

Just recently signed up for a gold account so I could play halo 3 online with a few friends and have run into some problems. I'm able to connect to games normally, but any time I try to connect to friends, friends of a friend, or if a friend tries to join a party I'm in, everything breaks down. On either side, we'll get messages explaining in short about NAT setups and such, but both of us will get the message that our NAT status is 'open' (the same result we all get testing our connections on the xbox dashboard).

I'm certain this is a problem on my end because if I connect my 360 directly to my DSL modem, the problem is completely gone. I've been to port forwarding.com and have taken the steps listed there but there's no change.

Again, my router is a Linksys WRT54G. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Set your 360 to have a static IP address, and in your router configuration, set that IP to be in a "DMZ." Your 360 will have all ports fully open. Don't put your PC in the DMZ, or else you'll get like 30 billion viruses.

I have a WRT54G and had issues with disconnects that were solved after I set all of my devices to static IP addresses.

i have. sometimes, you have to try a lot to get in. Other times, break up the party and try having people rejoin. Sometimes this usually works. It's weird. I have Open NAT, but it says I need one to join....Hope this helps.
