Halo 3 katana please help?

ok this is making me mad i have 1055 gamerscore in halo 3 and i went to change my amour and i saw that i had the katana piece and when i click to add it to my body it was not on me when i went to set it again it was not their my friend that lives a couple blocks from me has 1025 and he has the katana how do i get ut back

you must have all the original achievements the game shipped with to wear the katana. the extra 750 points dont count
