Halo 3 keeps freezing what should i do?

I keep trying to play halo 3 but it freezes and at first it said my disc is dirty but its not and i cleaned it and then when i restarted my xbox 360 it popped up with a random update. Right now i have the hard drive out and my disc what should i do???

do the update and take ur disc somewhere like hollywood video or blockbuster to hav it professionally cleaned. its only like 5 dollars to clean it
