According to Bungie, they are developing new maps now, and have been since Halo 3 went gold (production started). It just takes a lot of time. What looks good doesn't always play right and gets completely redone or scrapped. And, even a few maps takes a ton of hours in BETA for debugging. We will most likely see them around the start of summer next year.

They are working on 3 maps right now, probably soonest release date is april 08 for all of them, they might do one early to release with halo wars... they are allready letting people visiting bungie play the new maps so..... just a waiting game really but they are in the works

They should put some of the maps from Halo and Halo 2 on there.

oooh, not for a long time. I "predict" about 3 to 5 new maps for next year, sorry don't know when.
Right now they probably want to take a rest, after that they can start working on the new maps, but they wont put or create or useless maps. They need more ideas to design it, it took a lot of time designing High Ground. The gameplay, lighting, weapons, balancing, etc...
You have to wait, yeah i want to play on a new map too.
