Halo 3 - Press d pad to talk?

In halo 3, why on earth do we have to press the d pad (when the party reaches a certain amount of players) i just see no point of that

im guessing because they don't want people to talk all at once, or it would be a commotion

usually it only does that when you change the controller con-fig to make it push to talk. Also it is maybe because of excess voice spam. hope that helps
