Halo 3 problem, Freezing up, do not know how to fix! Help?

Last few times Ive booted up Halo 3, it freezes up during online play. The screen either totally freezes, though I still have sound for about 10 seconds before that is gone or I get a complete black screen (NOT THE SCREEN OF DEATH!! JUST A BLACK SCREEN!) with no sound. Have to restart my xbox everytime. I ONLY have this problem with COD4 and Halo and Ive had both games since they have came out. Out of all of the other 20-somthing games I have, I only have this problem with these two. Any got an idea on the problem or how to solve it?

the same happened to me with halo3, but it was only 1 week old, i called microsoft explained it and i got a new one free (after 2 weeks) i dont know if you can do the same thing because your game isn't that new anymore, but you can always try to say that it was the xbox's fault, sometime when it stays on to logn the laser can actually ruin the disc... good luck!
