halo 3 why is it so hard to kill some players?

in match making the player in the lead can survive so many shots, grenades and hits ect

Well, the game takes place in the future. The only logical excuse I can think of would be that spartans have energy shields. (That's why someone lights up when ever they are shot at, and why your armor starts having yellow electrical discharges when you're close to death)

try aiming for the head, another thing that is good is get their shields down to zero then one head shot will do it. eliets r also harder to kill because their head is so small
