How can I port forward Halo 3 on XBOX 360?

I have Windows Vista, a Netgear modem and I'm pretty sure that the version is CG814WGv2. I've tried using the website http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netgear/CG814WGv2/Halo.htm but it didn't work, and I tried turning off my Firewall completely, but it didn't work. Every time I go on matchmaking or do Campaign with friends online, the modem turns off. Someone told me that the modem thinks that since so much is going through, that it thinks there are viruses attacking so it shuts down. Please help.

get a better firewall, get Zone Alarm and delete ur other one and it should work its like $30 and its what i have or b4 u play online take out tha ethernet cable from ur computer so it dosnt interfear with tha internet
