How do I get fast exp and rank up faster in Halo 3?

I need some tips I'm a sergeant grade 2 and i want to get to a lieutenant as fast as possible, any tips?

Use the sniper rifle and the normal rifle so you have an accurate, long range gun and a rapid fire, medium range gun. Try not to get to close to the other players because then you give them a better chance to kill you.
