How do i get the 15,000 points on halo 3 achievement?

On halo 3 theres if you get 15,000 points you get 10 gamerscore, I did it with my friends and got nothing ( i had over 15,000) Do i have to do it by myself or can i do co-op. im 40 gamerscore away from 1000 so im trying to get stuff.
