How do I play Halo 3: ODST campaign in online co-op?

I just got ODST today and I thought there was an online co-op feature to play the campaign. This game is really hard and would be much better with 2+ players. I see the "Firefight" mode but thats only like waves of Covenant like Horde. How can other people join my campaign game and how can I join theirs?...is this even possible over public Xbox live?
