How do you save game progress in Halo 3??

I am really far but I dont know how to save

press start,go to quit game,then choose save and quit.

like the other guy said, quit and it will auto-save. The game also saves after each checkpoint so you can quit and return to that checkpoint. Halo 3 also completely saves after each level ensuring you can continue to FINISH THE FIGHT

Just go to "Quit Game" after pressing "start". It will automatically save.
