How to get to Halo 3 multiplayer?

I just got Halo 3 and i have two controllers for the 360 but i don't know how to get to the split screen where you can verse another player.

Just put the disc in and when it loads you can go to custom games.
There you can create you own type of games, select teams and apply your own options to the game.
