Is there anything different about HALO 3 ODST multiplayer?

I thought it would have been a whole new game but I'm still playing with halo 3 players?

&& has anyone bought it yet? I'm a bit disappointed that there's only like 3 new maps and i haven't played them yet on team doubles .
