ODST matchmaking and Halo 3 matchmaking?

If ODST's separate matchmaking disc is identical to the Halo 3 matchmaking (minus the 3 new maps), does this mean that people on ODST will play matchmaking against those on the Halo 3 disc? Is it the same server then?

Xbox games don't run on servers, the user that has the best connection will become the host and host the other xbox's, and yeah, they do.
