So what was the legendary ending to Halo 3?

I saw the legendary version of the ending of Halo 3, but i don't quite understand the difference from that ending and the original ending they give you on easy, normal and heroic...I was just wondering if anyone could explain it to me

After the credits there is the normal ending after that ending the screen goes black than the picture comes back and you see the 1/2 of the ship Master chief was on float down near a planet.
