what does the lengendary ending mean in halo 3?

the ending that you get when you beat legendary. what is that? is it some other planet? does master chief's adventures keep going?

there probaly won't be a halo 4, considering the flood & halos are finished, but since he's gonna land on another planet, there might be a new type of game made by bungie that has master chief on that planet
