What's wrong with my Xbox 360 or my Halo 3 disc?

Okay, so something odd happened on New Years day. I don't know if it was an error with my 360, my copy of Halo3, or if its a problem with Bungie.

For whatever the reason, a list of errors has been occurring since midnight of december 31 (this isn't some kind of new year bug, is it?) Every time i try to play matchmaking, i'll find all the players, and then immediately, upon loading the room, it will quit me out and send me to the matchmaking menu. Also, every time i do campaign, it loads a little bit of the level, then drops to zero, then loads a bit again, then drops to zero, until it just says players cannot load data or something like that.

I checked online mode with a couple of my other games, and it all still checks out fine. I asked a friend of mine to see if he was having problems with it as well, and he said that he had the same problems, except when he loads matchmaking, it isn't until the countdown timer gets to zero that it automatically boots him out of the room.

Also, i just put in my halo 3 disc this morning to try again and now it won't read the disc, but something tells me that's not related to this problem. Last thing, he brought his copy of halo 3 over to my house today, along with his hard drive. His disc had the same problem mine did, not being able to load matchmaking past the room. But when we plugged in his hard drive and his disc, he had his problem of not being able to load matchmaking past the countdown timer.

So if anyone knows what to do, please tell me. Or even if you can tell me if its a problem with our 360's, our discs, Bungie, etc. that would be appreciated as well

I would check Bungie's site and see if they have any info, I'm heading there in a minute myself. I have not played Halo 3 since the start of the new year, but I haven't heard of any huge problems anywhere else. It could have something to do with a leap day being added into the calender, the same problem the Zune players were having over the past week. If nothing is found on Bungie, then check Xbox's site and see if they have any problems reported.... good luck to you, sounds like it might be your disk, or maybe even your CD player.

did you install halo 3 onto the hard drive? bungie stated that installing halo 3 would cause problems such as the ones you have described

if you did then you need to uninstall it
