Which game is better, Halo 3 or Gears of War 2?

I just bought an Xbox 360 Elite and I've been debating on both of these games. I want the game that will be better in the long run, which means the game with the better online. I like the more bloody look of Gears but Halo has a giant fun base. Could any of you wise 360 owners help me? Thx.

halo 3. it's way way more fun online. but the gears campaine is better. but way easier than the first one.

Personally, I'd go with Halo 3.

There is a lot more that you can do with Halo 3, (game-type wise, weapon wise, etc.) than you can do in Gears of War 2. If you're a multiplayer person like I am, the GoW2 learning curve for multiplayer is extremely harsh, and you might get frustrated with it.

i have played both and in the long run defintly halo 3 but get halo 3 odst because it has a new campaign, and firefight which is like horde mode on gears of war in which you fight off waves of monsters. Halo 3 and Halo 3 odst online is the same server so no matter which game you have you still play each other bunie did this so it wouldnt take away from halo 3 online players

I will take GoW2 over Halo 3. For me, I like the mechanics of the game much better than Halo. The characters feel like they actually have some weight to them and the control scheme is flawless. Halo NPCs probably have a little bit better AI though. Graphically Gears takes it. The texturing is just so dam impressive.
