why do I lag in halo 3?

i dont lag all the time but sometimes when i play i have a green connection then couple minutes in the game i get a red connection should i put the router closer to my xbox 360 because my router is not close to my xbox but on cod4 i never lag please help

My router is about 7 feet away and i never really lag.. but halo could be because of all the people on it, and not as many people play CoD4 as they used to, not that WaW is out. It also depends on who you have as your Internet Service Provider
