I have a Linskeys router, and Comcast high speed internet running at 100 mbps. My 360 is plugged directly into my router. Even with all this I still get 1 or 2 red bars when I play Halo, WHY?
I do have many computers hooked up to my connection, is that the problem?
one reason could be the number of people online that time or as you stated, many computers hooked up to the router. it can also be your router priority. i know d-link allow faster through-put connection for certain connections and limited connection for some.
That could be one of the problems. And I doubt that you have a 100mbps connection... It may say that when connected to the router since that and 1gbps is the standard for lan connections. But if you were to go to www.pcpitstop.com and do a bandwidth test on a server that is relatively close to you, it will say how fast your connection really is (both download and upload speeds). And yes, having many computers hooked up will drain the available bandwidth that is allotted to your connection. One thing you could try is logging onto OpenDNS.com and registering(free) there and get a DNS server that isnt bogged down by the rest of the comcast users in your area. I had to do that because I have a 16Mb with comcast and I would be playing COD4 while the wife watched movies on netflix on our other 360 and I would get lag. Now I am living the COD4 life with NO lag...
