why does halo 2 multiplayer on xbox live work so slow when I have DSL and the 360?

I have DSL connection and never any traffic on my modem with other computers that would obivously slow down the connection. Plus i don't know the difference of how the 360 works with the original xbox on halo 2 but the 360 I think is suppose to be faster. Why is my connection always the worse compared to all my friends who some have lower DSL or even dailup always have a better connection on xbox live? It can't be because of modding of any sort because even when I'm just playing against my friends I have a slow connection.
the connection cable cames with the 360 and have tried unplugging it and plugging back in. sorry DSL is the best I can get my area and high speed is no option because it is unavailable except by satilite and im not spending 100 bucks a month to get on the internet every 3 days a week.

There are MANY factors that could impact your gameplay experience. I would start by troubleshooting your HOME NETWORK configuration, before calling your ISP and yelling at them.

If you are using WIRELESS Networking Adapter, then don't, that is probably the problem RIGHT there.

If you are wired, then eliminate as many HUBs and other intermediate devices between the DSL signal and the XBOX 360 as you possibly can. This will let you know if your HUB is running slow. Depending on your (or your parents) comfort level with technology, HUBs can be configured and forced to run at a lower rate than the rest of the network. This allows the computer to get most of the pipeline and while your poor XBOX 360 chokes on what it is allowed to use.

You also need to run a Speed Test on your DSL line. www.speakeasy.net is one that I use when I think I am having problems. If you pay for ELITE speed, then verify you are getting what you pay for...also, have your friends run it from their house to see what kind of speed they get.

Also, your distance from the ISP's switch could create "some" lag your friends don't experience, if you live further away from the switch than they do. Although, in this day and age, I don't think this is a huge problem, unless you live hours away from your friends.

There are many things to check...we all wish you luck...see you online, Master Chief! Your going to need it.
