My nephew is 12 years, and he has just bought an xbox 360.I asked him what he wants for his birthday(he bought the xbox 360 for his birthday). He answered me Halo 3.But I told him that halo 3 is a game that people over the age of 17 should play.He answered me that his friends have played it and they say it hasn't got mature content.Should I buy it to him.If not, what content does it have and it is mature?I ask because unfortunately I never played any Halo
I don't think it has intense violence, because in europe(i live in america) it is 16+ years old.Anyway,he has already played gears of war at one of his friends,so he isn't influenced. But he always avoids sexual games

it really shouldnt be much of a problem. you can get it for him. i started playing halo when i was about 11. you just need to watch out for games that have sexual content; halo lacks that (thank God). if he influenced highly by video games, this is not recommended.

It's rated Mature because of its violence, blood and some mild language.

Some people say this is okay. In fact, it isn't. Some young kids, when they play these mature games, get more violent. They become more aggressive, and try to imitate what the game does. Yes this is proven scientifically. I myself am a by-product of that.

Also, he may get really addicted to it, and marks will gradually decline.

But it's your choice really.

Whenever you have a question about game content, ever, use this site. It's not politically inclined or biased or anything, it's a really great site.

Here, I've set up a link to the Halo3 page:

And as a reply to Ron-X...no, there have been dozens of studies on the effects of violent media on children, and most show absolutely zero to negligible effect on developmental aggression. Unless you're, say, giving Grand Theft Auto to a 6 year old. And at that point I'm severely questioning your parental skills.
