why is my halo 3 screwing up?

i just bought halo 3 2 days ago (i know, im a little late =) but when i played it, the screen was not as wide as it should be. it stopped about 1 1/2 inches from the edge of the screen on both sides. occassionally it would go full screen again, but the the people would look kinda fat, so im assuming it still isnt right. i have played halo 3 before at friends places and i have never seen this before, also, it has never happened on any of my other games. why is this happening? how do i fix it? thanks for your answers =)

There are screen settings on the game if you hit pause or it might be your tv.

its proabably the disc or your tv try it on another tv if it still doesnt work its that the disc is slightly unreadable

i have a philips tv that does that and theyre is a blue button on the remote i press that reconfigures the the size otherwise idk
