xbox live-halo 3 problem?

Ok i just got xbox live and i wanted to play 4-player coop on halo 3 campaign. but when ever i select the xbox live network classification: open it says only friends and recent players. But how come i cant play with random people? am i doing something wrong? all of my privacy settings for halo 3 are open.

Also what game mode and map should i should i use in order to get an overkill?

the online co-op can only be done with friends/recent players.

ill friend you and help you out as much as i can and if you need the skulls ill help you get them 2. 2 night i will probably be getting on around 1am EST so if your on ill hit you up

you cant get random ppl for campain
and for overkill play the thing like free for all
