Can anyone give me some tips for Halo 1?

I have beaten the game on easy, normal, and heroic. I am trying to beat it in legendary, now. The problem that I am having is, so far, the elites. I try to shoot them, but I get a few shots and then they hide and recharge their own shield. I'm not the fastest at aiming, but I'm not bad. I can just imagine the fun I am going to have when I get to the hunters and then the Flood. Any tips?
I am playing solo. I don't have a very good aim with the stickies.

Try throwing stickys at them and then shooting or u can shoot them with a plasma pistol then shoot them with a assault or something, and remember to always have cover cus when your on legendary if you run into the open they will own you, i experienced this myself,

using 2 controllers one guy stays back and hides while the actual player go ahead and fights. i reccomend u have and friend play wit u on the final map. =P

When you get the elites and they hide to recharge move closer.
For hunters use a pistol and grenades. Wack the flood, it's fastest or dodge them.

The thing i use is a partner. When you die you load back to them. They dont need to do anything either. Just stand then move closer.

wait for them to come to you. unload a little bit into them then melee them. easy kill

Stick a grunt next to them, so they freak out and run to their group, whcih should hopefully damage the elite, then unload a few in him.

Or, get up close put half a mag of AR in his face, then melee, and more shooting if necessary. Fail proof, as long as you aren't surrounded. Try to take out as many as you can from a far with a ranged weapon, then single them out so you aren't fighting multiple at a time.
