can i play halo 3 on my xbox 360 without having to buy the new Xbox 360

Halo 3 Special Edition System? my friend said my xbox wont have enough memory to play the new halo 3 ? idk

but i got the xbox that you can play all the old xbox games and when i got it it cost 100 dollars more then the other xbox 360

Don't listen to your friend. Halo 3 and any other 360 game on the market is compatible with any 360 SKU; Core, Premium or Elite. Halo 3 has no special requirements.
