Can't play Halo 3 on live, Please help?

ok i just bought halo 3 and ive had live and played it with other games but when i do matchmaking i chose the game type and it will search but it will either boot me back to the lobby or retry the search a bunch of times i bought the game *used* so i wanna know if i have to bring it back or if im doing something wrong please help!

It depends on what kind of match you're trying to join. Some matches require you to download map packs, or it will kick you out. Read the message on the left side of your screen, above the global map, and it should tell you what you lack. Also, the heroic map pack is free and the legendary is like 500 or 600 ms points or so.
