Halo 3 catch skull isnt there??

I have not beaten the halo 3 campaign yet, and I'm playing on Normal.
I did not kill neither wraiths, I even betrayed my soldiers so that they wouldn't kill the wraiths.I stack up vehicles and grenade jump yet the skull isnt on top of the building. Why?

Do the mission online 4 player co-op so you will have help and do it on Legendary.

dont kill your guys just when about to get skull do it fast because if i remember correctly the hornets like to target wraiths, just stick one or two ghosts and then drive over to the thing in a warthog and nade jump it or whatever
