Halo 3 Co-Op?

I heared that Halo 3 allowed 1-4 people to play Co-Op. It works great if your online. But my xbox won't let my friends and I play 4 people on just my Xbox. Why the hell not? I thought H3 was desined for that. Does anyone know why my friends and I can't do that?

You cant play with four people on 1 Xbox Online... U cant do Co-Op with 4 people either, only 2 - You only do Multiplayer where u vs each other in a game of Slayer or OddBall ETC

You can do co-op with up to 4 players. But on any 1 xbox there is a max of two players. To do 4 player you either need to system link them or go online with someone else. In custom games though you can have up to 4 players on 1 xbox and up to 16 players in a match (again max of 4 per xbox) if you system link or go online.
