In halo 3, i know that one of those werid pop-up moments is cortana, but who is the scary,hoarse voiced guy???? AND what is that squid like thing that shows its tentacals everyone and a while [at the end of missions]???

its the master of the flood, THE GRAVEMIND you might have seen him in the cinamatics on halo 2

the scary voice guy would be the gravemind a huge flood monster from halo 2 that control the flood. That would be the same guy at the end.
