Halo 3 skull help?

when you obtain a skull on a certain level on campaign, can you toggle the effects of them on and off? if so, how. i need to know this before i try to get them.

i believe there is a menu called skulls where when you click on the skull it lights up and its activated

go to campaign screen and then you have to press a button i think it's x or y just try all buttons and then your skull screen will pop up.

When in campain lobby...press X and all the skulls you unlocked are shown and you can toggle them on and off right there. When you get a skull in game...their effect doesn't happen unless you toggle them on in the lobby only.
