Halo 3 xbox 360 question?

I bought halo 3 and an xbox from someone. Included was a gold xbox live account. Here's the question... Is it possible for me to create a new campaign without creating a new profile and use it to play on live? That one account is the only one that I have that has a live gold account.
Also, what advantages will I have playing xbox live halo 3 if I beat the regular game?

Yes you can make a new file. Plus the single Player is awesome. However, most importantly t6o be good online it is soooo much easier to play single player first. On normal difficulty.
