Having problem with my mic and halo 3?

I got a new black wirless controller for christmas and it works fine except when i put my mic into it ... Whenever i play halo 3 the mic works perfectly but when im in the lobby it shows that i dont have a mic , but i can talk and hear clearly .. but its very annoying .. only with my black wirless controller .. anyone can help??

Maybe your controller is defective. I heard the wireless controllers have been really buggy lately. Try to return it for a black wired controller.
