Help with Xbox 360 Live on Halo 3?

I'm new to Xbox 360 Live. I set it up okay and the internet connection works fine. I put in halo 3 and everything goes fine but I can't see any other players there. What going on?
Yes, I am going into match making, there's nobody there.
I tried joining and inviting and searching.

i dont know what your talking about .. are you going into matchmaking? and are you actually clicking the start game button? if you are and you still dont see anything, you've got to be doing something wrong.

edit -- sometimes it takes FOREVER before it will find a game, its taken up to 20 minutes before finding me a game in the past. try playing social slayer, i know alot of people play that.

You have to join a game, but before that you have to search for someone hosting a game. or u can host a game, then u choose the map and stuff. Im not entirely ure if all thats right, but i pretty sure.
