how can you pass the last objective on the 2nd mission in halo 3?

something about save the marine last objective in the 2nd mission on halo 3. i go in there alone with no allays??? and in the end i die because ive ran out of ammo but im cheesed off because no1 follows me in, they all stand outside and once im in they lock the door. left to fight alone.
