How do I make a Halo 3 montage?

I would like to make a Halo 3 montage without buying a capture card. I tried to do it using GeeVee but they took off the grab part. How would i do this?

you don't. making videos is a hobby of mine, from my own experience there is NO free video capture programs... they're either limited by a small ammount of time of use as a demo (15-30 seconds), have a HUGE watermark over the video (rendering it pointless) or you just plain can't use it all til you pay up and get a reg code.

i also woudln't waste your time trying to pirate this particular type of program, again from experience, it's a waste of time.

all that said some video cards have this built in, and ALL tv cards do... some will outright tell you, you can do this.. others you'll have to figure out how to do it on your own, but it is very possible with a little tinkering.
