How do you beat the level "Halo" in Halo 3? HELP!!!?

Me and my bro do 2 players, and we are really stuck on the level Halo! Its the one where the is a mob of flood everywhere and you have to reach the control room on top of the tower. We barely make it to the third level before we both die! Please tips or something! We always get killed. And sometimes, once we reached the top, nothing happends! Please help!

ok a plan is just 1 prsn stay back and another go in to keep killing the guys then when theres no flood try and find urway, thats what i do on insane mode with my freind.
