How do you put the words on halo 3 on the screen?

I havent been able to put the words where you can read them off the screen instead of listening on my halo 3 game. Can anyone tell me how?(my brother keeps his radio on all day and wont turn it down if i started screaming FIRE!!! I cant hear what the people are saying and its really anoying!)

dont you mean the subtitles?
just go to settings or options or whatever and put subtitles on
