How the $#@! do you play Halo 3 on Legendary?

Okay, maybe I'm just not hardcore enough. But when I play this game on Legendary, I die like 10 times between most checkpoints. If there are snipers, I die more than that. Is this how it's supposed to be played? I thought Master Chief was supposed to be a bad mofo who is feared by the aliens. But when I play him, I'm like a scared little girl making a mad dash from one checkpoint to the next running for her life. Do some people actually manage to play through the game on Legendary without dying? Or do most people die repeatedly between each checkpoint?

You really just need to be on your toes. Yes, I have died plenty of time on Legendary, but each time I die - I identify where the shooter was that killed me. (that way I can kill him first next time I respawn)

To beat the game on legendary (or any game on its hardest difficulty) you must learn to balance aggressive behavior and defensive behavior. You have to know when you can pop out from cover and unleash a flurry of bullets on a enemy. You also have to know when to lay low and wait for them to stop shooting. The element of surprise is crucial on legendary, because taking them off guard has the most reward.

Master Chief IS a bad mofo, but that's because his character is the best of the best. (Master Chief is the highest rank in the UNSC)

Most people die a few times between checkpoints, but a few out there are so good that they can just keep charging into battle, and basically kill all the enemies before they kill him. I am not one of them. You are not one of them.
