How to rank up in faster in halo 3 matchmaking?

I am a Liutenat and i am only a 17 in matchmaking(highest level). when i play with my friends and we win games together they go up in ranks way faster than i do.. My friend is a 31 and we were both playing as lvl 12' s.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW 2 RANK UP FASTER OR HOW MANY GAMES U NEED TO WIN IN A ROW TO GO UP A LEVEL

well look you have to get lots of kills in order to rank the more kills you get the faster you lvl up...
