I just bought an Xbox 360, along with Halo 3. Is there any place I can go...

...to learn how to play? Yeah, so I'm 28 learning how to play Halo 3 for the first time and I re-spawn and within 10 seconds I get blown away by a cocky 3 year old, LOL. So is there a place I can go to learn how to play or am I just over my head here?

Yes, go to the beginners room. It is a 4 player slayer battle with every man for themself. It is for people with little experience in Halo. I played in there my first time online and I actually beat the other 3 people. You can practice in there until you are good enough to go to the main rooms.
